Details:
Durar al-Hukkam Sharh Majallat al-Ahkam is a detailed and authoritative commentary on the Majallat al-Ahkam al-Adliyyah, the famous Ottoman legal code based primarily on the principles of Hanafi Islamic jurisprudence.
The work was written by Ali Haydar, a prominent Ottoman jurist, judge, and scholar who served as a teacher of the Majalla at the School of Law in Istanbul and held senior judicial and governmental positions. The Arabic version was translated by Fahmi al-Husayni.
The commentary explains the legal articles of the Majalla in detail, presenting their underlying fiqh principles, legal reasoning, and practical applications. It covers important areas of Islamic commercial and civil law, including sales, leasing, guarantees, transfers of debt, pledges, trusts, gifts, usurpation, legal incapacity, partnerships, agency, reconciliation, admissions, litigation, evidence, and judicial matters.
This 4-volume set is particularly valuable for students and scholars of Hanafi Fiqh, Islamic jurisprudence, Islamic legal studies, traditional Madrasah curricula, and comparative studies of Islamic and Ottoman law.
